One more thing about pear-shaped carabiners – Petzl’s beautiful and classic Attaché screwgate currently comes with a choice of bar-stocks, but not for long. The brilliant round cross-section (like my well used and much loved example above) is being discontinued in favour of an updated, slightly larger shape using the lighter H-profile bar-stock shown here on the Attaché 3D model. If, like me, you’ll be sorry to see the definitely-not-broken classic carabiner disappear, now is the time to pick up a couple.
